Veraisons at the Inn at Glenora Wine CellarsThe Inn at Glenora Wine Cellars is located in Dundee, on the west side of Seneca Lake. The first time I stayed at the there, I had a tough time checking in. It wasn’t the desk clerk or that I couldn’t find my reservation number – it was the delicious smells wafting out from the Veraisons restaurant. I would have liked to gone right in and had dinner, but I already had dinner plans. So I made a point to go down the next evening and treat myself. Well, it was a treat – in more ways than one. It was a little too cool to eat out on the terrace fronting Seneca Lake, but the dining room was just as lovely. I was seated by a beautiful stone fireplace. As I waited for my meal, I admired the attractive woodwork that accented the room. Instead of a salad, I had the Glenora's Signature Cabernet French Onion Soup Gratinée. I love French Onion Soup, and I bet I’ve had it at a hundred different restaurants. Well, Veraisons’ version was the best I have ever had. Tangy and hearty with a generous topping of cheese. For my entrée, I ordered a NY Strip Steak. It arrived grilled exactly as I had requested, and served with honey-roasted potatoes and grilled vegetables. It was as delicious as it looked and looked as good as it tasted. For atmosphere, food and service, Veraisons is one of my picks for best Finger Lakes Restaurants.
