My Favorite Finger Lakes Hotels

You'll find no shortage of places to stay on your Finger Lakes vacation. No matter what you're looking for in a hotel, you can probably find it here.

Within the Finger Lakes region you'll find:

- a four-star inn (Geneva on the Lake)

- a full-service spa (Mirbeau Inn and Spa, Skaneateles)

- a hotel located in a castle (Belhurst Castle, Geneva)

With all these choices, it can be difficult to decide where to stay on your vacation. To help you decide, here are some of my favorite Finger Lakes hotels.

The staff is friendly and helpful, and the rooms are comfortable and inviting. The first time I stayed there, I had the Landmark Suite, with a four-poster canopy bed, Stickley furniture, and a comfortable sitting room. The view out my window included Seneca Lake and the inn's lovely gardens.

My favorite room has to be the Whirlpool Suite, with a red couch and a red double Whirlpool tub. There's even a chandelier in the bathroom!

You can dine on the premises, in the Lancellotti Dining Room or outdoors on the terrace. And the food is as good as you would expect from a four-star property.

Another one of my favorite Finger Lakes hotels is The Inn at Glenora Wine Cellars. One neat feature is that they present you with a glass of wine at check-in. I took mine back to my room and relaxed.

My room had an electric fireplace and Whirlpool bath. It also had a million-dollar view, looking out to Seneca Lake over acres of vineyards. Actually, every one of their 30 rooms has a similar view.

If you do stay at the Glenora, you have to eat at Veraisons Restaurant, and if you like French Onion soup, try their Glenora's Signature Cabernet French Onion Soup Gratinée. It is the best!

There's also a winery, a gift shop, and they often feature special events, like hosting a musical act. Glenora is located in Dundee, on the western side of Seneca Lake.
